Riverby Estate Eliza Riesling 2023

A wonderous semi-sweet Riesling from Riverby Estate. 95/100 & Champion Riesling Canberra Wine Show. Trophy for "Best Riesling" at Canberra International Riesling Challenge.

Our Jacksons Road vineyard has a long history of producing stunning Rieslings, with our first Riesling vines planted in 1990. The previous vintages of this wine have won numerous golds and trophies and had excellent reviews. 2014 was a good Riesling vintage in Marlborough and the hand-picked fruit for this wine came into the winery in pristine condition.

Mid, golden straw in colour, this distinctive Riesling has a rich nose of dried apricots, jasmin florals, manuka honey, orange peel, apples and ripe stone-fruit. These initial nuances carry through on the palate, which is immediately appealing, unctuous and moreish and keeps building in intensity with rich, spicy fruits; stone-fruits, citrus, toffee apples, honey and ginger. The acid sweetness balance is impeccable and there is a lovely minerally character running through the wine. This is a crisp, elegant, refreshing wine with loads of appeal. It lingers beautifully leaving a gentle floral, honey and fruity taste in the mouth. This wine is sure to give great pleasure as it ages gracefully and continues to improve and develop even greater depth and charm over time. Winery

"It's elegantly fragrant on the nose with ripe stone fruit, honeydew melon, lime cordial and white floral aromas. The palate displays excellent concentration and persistence, wonderfully supported by creamy mouthfeel and beautifully pitched acidity. It's finely sweet with bright acidity, making it mouth-watering and delicious to the finish. Style: Medium-sweet. At its best: 2025 to 2035. www.riverbyestate.com. Oct 2023." Drink 2025 - 2035 95/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim

"Always a delight, this 9.5% alcohol Kabinett-style Riesling has more weight and voluptuous texture than might be expected in a Mosel or Rhine example, but has pin-point accurate acid balance too. Hints of beeswax and ginger to lovely stone fruit and lime aromas, the sweet and deliciously pure fruit on the palate. The acid balance offsets the sweetness and hints of exotic, tropical fruit beautifully." 92/100 Tom Cannavan, Black Dog Wines
