Alkina Kin Barossa Shiraz 2022

Possibly the most striking label on the market. This elegantly pointed Shiraz is from the very exciting venture, Alkina. A very smart looking gift!

Alkina is a new story on an old place. We seek to understand, nurture and ultimately express this beautiful land in its wines, its values and its experiences for visitors and
drinkers. Our certified organic and biodynamic farm sits on the traditional lands of the Ngadjuri people and we seek to honour the land’s Aboriginal history and to learn from their regenerative farming philosophy. We have 43 hectares of vines planted to Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro and Semillon, with the oldest vines dating from the 1950s. Artwork for this label was created by artist and designer, Damian Hamilton.

The Kin label allows us to expand our winemaking knowledge while exploring new vineyard parcels and blends each year. 2022 is our 2nd release and displays a pretty, elegant vintage character that really suits this wine. It is lifted and floral, with red, blue and black fruit that feels cool and controlled. The tannins build on the palate and cut through the fruit, bringing savoury structure and savoury refreshment. Fruit purity and aromatic complexity are two of the calling cards of the 2022 Birdsong. So much going on here, with pepper, spice, violets and a cool red and blue fruit character. Mid-weight, fresh and bursting with energy, the textured tannins help prolong the finish beautifully.
