Adrian Studer violin, 2006

Adrian Studer trained at the Swiss Violin Making School in Brienz and moved to New Zealand in the mid-1980s, where he rapidly established himself as one of our finest violin makers. Most of his violins since the mid-1990’s have been based on the work of Storioni, but this instrument, made in 2006, follows the style of Guarneri del Gesu. The tone is rich and robust on the lower strings, with a silvery quality in the upper registers.
