Marco Raposo, Brazil, nickel-mounted cello bow
Marco Raposoâs bows are made in his workshop high in the mountains of Brazil, using a blend of French and German styles and techniques. The workshop has a commitment to the sustainable harvesting of pernambuco wood. In the wild, the species is an endangered tropical hardwood and has been the focus of much conservation work by international luthiers as well as local Brazilian growers, who have discovered it makes an excellent planting companion to cocoa. Marco Raposo bows are made with wood harvested from the workshopâs own plantation.
