2024 Wātaka/Calendars

We can't believe it's nearly 2024! Reo Māori Mai have got your wātaka/calendars sorted for the new Gregorian year ahead. You might find it difficult to choose between our two beautiful wātaka options for 2024 - you can always go for both, just hang them in different rooms 😉 or koha one to your favourite human!

Te Kahureremoa Taumata (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) has created the mahi toi/art for both versions of our wātaka for 2024 (@tekahureretoi on Instagram).

The wātaka whenua evokes the land with earthy tones, playing with light and texture to create a journey of creation, formation and connection through each piece.

The wātaka muramura takes us through time and space, bringing shimmering hues of blues, greens, purples and pinks into kaleidoscopic patterns that embody the wairua of our taiao.

Each wātaka has:

- 13 months: Jan 2024 - Jan 2025
- kupu mino (phonetic translations) for the months of the Gregorian year and days of the week
- key dates (Waitangi, Matariki, school terms, new and full moons, public holidays )
- information on the reverse of wātaka for reo around time (more can also be found in our blog here )

Our wātaka are printed in Ōtautahi/Christchurch by Ngāi Tahu printer, Ruruku.
