It belongs to the Marantaceae family, which includes many other decorative and unique foliage plants. Caring for this plant requires attention to its specific needs to ensure it thrives. The calathea family can be a bit finicky, but with the right care, you can keep them happy and healthy.

The Calathea family enjoys bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch their leaves. If the light is too dim, the plant's foliage may lose its vibrant color and markings.

Calatheas like consistently moist soil, but not soggy. Water them when the top inch of the soil feels dry, which may be about once a week or so, depending on your home's humidity and temperature. Use room-temperature water, and ensure the pot has good drainage. Mist your leaves regularly to create a humid environment.

During the spring and summer, feed your Calatheas with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks.
