Disc Pendant from Fossilized Wood

Fossilized Wood was revered by the ancients as it was thought to contain the energy and knowledge of the tree from which it formed.

Although it looks like wood, there is none of the original wood still left having been replaced by stone via a mineralisation process whereby the organic materials making up cell walls have been replicated with minerals.

This disc is made from a beautiful translucent piece of New Zealand Wood Fossil, carved by Benjamin and bound by Marisa using tan waxed braid and finished with slip knots making this pendant easily adjustable in length.
