Rock and Pillar Sunset

, Central Otago,  New  Zealand :  A beautiful elongated cloud hangs over the Rock and Pillar Range near Patearoa.  The Rock and Pillars are a horst range, caused by movement on two parallel faults uplifting the area in between. The range is characterised by a very flat top, with steep escarpments on either side.  This panoramic image was captured by award winning photographer Janyne Fletcher GMNZIPP.
