Louis XIII Style Dressing Table

When the father of Louis XIII was assassinated Marie de'Medici was Regent from 1610-1614. Her influence on styles of the time can be seen in this 'Coiffeuse', or ladie's dressing table. The barley twist, diamond point and flattened bun feet are common decorative features of Louis XIII style.  While we discovered this piece in the Auvergne department of France the family let us know their father's house, where the piece had come from, was in Bordeaux. There is an old label on the frame under the marble top that shows at some stage of it's life this piece was sent to the beautiful St Jean train station in Bordeaux. The marble top on this dresser has an old repair and also a break in the marble. It is very hard to see the break once the top is in place.  Standing 2220mmH x 1170mmW, from the renaissance revival period.  We also have the matching bedside table from the same family.
