Queer Heroes: Meet 53 LGBTQ Heroes from Past and Present!

"The best advice I have ever been given is to be the person I needed when I was younger."

This beautiful, bold book celebrates the achievements of LGBT people through history and from around the world. It features full-colour portraits of a diverse selection of 52 inspirational role models accompanied by short biographies that focus on their incredible successes, from Freddie Mercury's contribution to music to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Published to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, this title will show children that anything is possible.

  Alphabet Team Review

This book is gorgeous. It’s vibrant, colourful, and the artwork is absolutely stunning.

It is single page bite-sized stories of some of the queer humans who have had an impact on history, featuring people from a range of different eras and from all over the world!

It celebrates the wins and grieves the losses of these queer heroes with respect and love, and is written in a way that makes these stories accessible for children. It is a great starting point if you want to read about inspirational LGBT people and gain a brief insight into their lives.

While it has fantastic diversity of countries and inclusion of people of colour, I am hopeful in the next editions they include the stories of more people in our community such as Intersex, Nonbinary, TransMasc, Asexual, and Two Spirit people.

The introduction says to consider this as your introduction to your extended family all over the world, and as a queer person that makes me feel so warm and fuzzy.
