Birds of the Doubtful Valley - Bellbird or korimako
Captain Cook described the Korimako or Bellbird as sounding, âLike small bells exquisitely tuned.â While MÄori compare great singers or orators to the bird, saying, âHe rite ki te kòpara e kÅ nei I te ata,â (just like a bellbird singing at dawn). As nectar-feeders korimako are important pollinators of native mistletoe, fuchsia and kowhai.
